A listener smsed this to me today-

A listener smsed in a couple of weeks ago during my show. She said that she felt I was very politically correct when I was discussing a topic with the listeners.
I called her back and told her— I do the best I can.
Knowing the boundaries of Singapore, there are limitations to what I can express on air. Even without the limitations, I will have to be responsible for what I say on air as a professional.
I try to air my opinions in 不吐不快, as that is obviously a platform for me to air my personal views, and listeners would not mistake it for a fact or an opinion that represents the station.
Now, it gets even more complicated when it is a segment that involves topic discussion. As the moderator, it’s often hard for me to present my own views. More often than not, the role requires me to be neutral, or play the devil’s advocate, for the benefit of the parties involved in the discussion and also for fairness.
Hope this post is not too defensive. it’s not meant to be. but rather, it is meant to explain the mechanism that’s at play on my show.
and of course, a happy new year!
